I saw that on facebook yesterday and of course all the Monkeefandom was out in full form as to why Canada, were's Mike, etc., the craziness starts again. I also have seen some posts by one of the Monkeecon ladies with postings, apparently some "big news" she only knows (she actually posted a picture of her with her mouth taped) this of course after she got the fandom all riled up because she knows something they don't know, I am thinking its something about that Monkee cruise maybe since she threw a dig at the woman who is trying to put that together, may the Monkeecon ladies are planning their own?

Yeah Sandee, I was just going to post something about that...the hush hush "news" and them being ticked off at the cruise idea. So I guess that answers the question about them combining the two together. I've never understood this faction-ing of fans either. We've all got one very big thing in common and that's the Monkees. Period. I don't understand taking sides and squabbling like a junior high girl's PE class. I blame a lot of that on social media and the fact that you can be anonymous while you verbally bash someone else. I'd bet 90% of that would stop if you had to all stand in a room together and say it to someone's face. That being said, I think I could still look JP in the face and call her a gold-digger, LOL

that's so true rj, could you imagine some of these people together in a room! I noticed the same "fangirl" made sure she was front and center in the pictures from the bus trip to see Micky's Christmas show, I do think some people get it. Why post that you know a "big secret" unless you are trying to draw attention to yourself and try to make yourself more superior to the regular everyday Monkee fans, and these everyday Monkee fans go along with it. She was really nasty in that post direct to the woman trying to put that cruise together, saying basically that the woman was using the Monkeecon ladies to further her plans with this cruise, I just think some people maybe just need to get over themselves a little, don't worry I would be right there with you regarding JP!!lol

Sigh...well I for one am happy that our neighbors to the north will have some tour dates to look forward to. Some people will always find something to complain about I guess. Regarding that "dig" and the "I got a secret" non-sense, lol! : I heard the conventions of 2013 and 2014 did not hold a candle to those that were held in the 80's/90's. I think the general consensus was that the convention planners over the last 2 years were not open to suggestions or feedback on how to improve. I can see the first one having some snafus but they should learn from what didn't work the first time and fix it. Most event planners from my experience rely on survey monkey, convene machine or some sort of research tool to gauge their convention goers for feedback. As mentioned before on the board and I agree, the con planners perhaps felt "threatened" by this travel company stealing their thunder. Maybe I don't want to be stuck on a cruise with all the cray crays after all! We shall see how this all pans out!

Oh, I don't know. Maybe being stuck with all the crazies could be entertainment in itself....like getting more bang for your buck so to speak. "Two-fers" Pay for the cruise and to see a few shows and THEN get to see the constant shows going on in the halls, on the decks and in the bars! Probably a lot of contests on "Who's the biggest fan"!

Yes I heard pros and cons of both conventions, and disaster stories from Beavertown last summer, I see why the organizers were done with it. I guess this whole Monkee fandom is true what you say RJ, who's the biggest fan, who met the guys and got their 5 minutes of fame with them, who's got the bigger Monkee collection, etc., it could be interesting as you say as long as a bar was close by to keep the margaritas flowing I would be ok and just take all the craziness in, but its kind of interesting in a way with Davy's unfortunate passing so many have come from out of the wordwork to either profit or try to get the title of world's biggest Monkee fan, I wonder if things would be this nuts regarding all of this if he were still alive?

Meow,
I won't go to another convention as a Fan.
My hey, hey day was the 1986.
There will never be another super fan like Maggie McManus. Fred Velez comes close, but there's no replacing her.
I think Donna Dolenz fills that role with Micky, and Pam Tork fills that role for Peter. Mike has his family, I'd guess.
I think JP has moved on to seek more famous arenas in LA. Wise move. Dear Davy actually makes her look immature and childish, which isn't employable in the real world. If I were her, I'd put D in the past for good. And try to get on General Hospital, who has an opening for a Latina in her 30's.
