Canyon of Dreams by Harvey Kubernik.
It was a good day to curl up with a book and I have been wanting to read this one for quite awhile.
Canyon of Dreams is about the Laurel Canyon area of L.A. during the 60's where the Mamas and the Papas lived, Peter Tork, Micky D, CSNY, Joni Mitchell, Henry Diltz and a lot of other artists.
There was a section in the book where Samantha Dolenz was interviewed and she said how she and her mother used to have to mark Ami's formula and baby food with stern notes so the artists and beatniks who hung out there would not eat or drink it. Being that most of the people who were hanging out there were stoned half the time, they would get the munchies and raid the fridge and cupboards, leaving everything bare! Samantha said how she and her mom would cook for up to 100 people at a time some days- so crazy!
There was a slight mention of Davy and how he loved Samantha's dad due to their Manchester connection.
Lots of great pictures from Henry Diltz in this book. You could really get a sense of community that these artists had.

It does sound like a neat book, I do remember reading about Davy and Samantha's dad somewhere, I think it said Davy used to go over to Micky's to learn woodworking since Samantha's father was good with this and we see how Micky is these days and it also said whenever Davy and Linda had parties, ie. birthdays, etc., Samantha's parents were always over, I do think back in the day both Micky and Samantha and Davy and Linda were quite close.
