This Christmas album was a fun project and a labor of love for those involved. Fred Velez and his friends the Monkeephiles, a Monkees tribute band created a twist on some traditional Christmas carols to the tune of Monkees songs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FggLrrZiErgwww.youtube.com/watch?v=V1rHKVulMEYFor Christmas carol purists, a CD of this magnitude might not be an ideal gift. However for those who don't mind mash-ups and want to add something unique to their Monkees collections, this CD would do nicely. Tracks:Riu Chiu, this was nicely done. God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman is done to the tune of 'Sweet Young Thing' My Father Christmas is spoken word The Little Drummer Boy is done to the tune of 'Shades of Gray' Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer starts off as a Christmas take on 'Zilch' and then leads into the song Hark the Herald Angels Sing is done to the tune of 'I Wanna Be Free' What Child is This, done traditionally, beautiful vocals by Linda Walsh. We Three Kings, is done to the tune of 'Zor and Zam' Christmas is My Time of Year, a good remake of the version that Micky, Peter and Davy made in the 70's. There are dubbed over Christmas greetings during the song from various Monkees fans who are prevalent on FaceBook and even a nice greeting from Fred Velez's mother Pilar.
