With it being the holiday weekend I haven't been online much but checked in this evening. I did see a new person has stepped up to try and buy Davy's house. Chris Pick, I don't know much about him, I do know he is a christian musician and I believe was friends or a acquaintance of Davy's. I guess he is going to talk to the Beavertown council to get some info and he is also going to be asking for donations from fans, apparently he is stepping in were Cindy left off, I just can't see how fans are going to be forking over money like that to make it happen, last time I saw something the house was going for $349,000 not including the repairs and upkeep although this Mr. Pick mentions he would do alot of the work himself but that still costs money. It mentions the price and dropped and it will be alot of hard work but he wants to turn it into a museum and he does also mention he will have to get licensing from the estate, should be interesting I guess people still can't let go of the fact that Davy is gone.

In some facebook groups, I guess he is suppose to be the anti-Cindy when it comes to trying to buy the house, I just don't understand personally how someone in their right mind can trying to undertake such a endeavor, its great if you have the money to buy it but again he's asking for fan support, the fb pages unfortunately have become a money grab, asking for money to support their ideas, most Monkee fans are getting up in age, their baby boomers, alot are on social security or disability from posts I have seen, its up to everyone's own mind to donate to something but this gofundme has become the new motto of Monkee fans, although their isn't a page yet for this I am sure one will be forthcoming.

Wow! Thanks for that piece of info Sandee123. This is definitely something we will all be keeping our eyes on You are right, a lot of the baby boomers can't sustain an endeavor like the museum. Even 2nd and 3rd gen fans couldn't. Economic times are still tight for many.

Meow,
Don't understand what anyone who loved Davy hopes to gain by purchasing his old house.

I don't understand it either bc, I could see if you had the money and wanted to buy it live in and go about normal everyday activities but I guess some people want to make his dream come true, so many seem to think they know what Davy wanted, I don't think Davy even knew that sometimes but there are alot of things to consider and when you do it involves alot of cash, and again fans come into the picture, and he mentioned licensing fees, don't forget the girls moved everything to California I wonder if they would ship it all back to PA, I think sometimes they just want everything to die down so they can get on with their lives, should be interesting to see what happens, he is a christian musician so the comments I have seen have been very nice nothing like those aimed at Cindy B., maybe that's why he thinks he has a better chance with fan involvement/money donations, because he's a nice guy.

Meow,
I don't mean to harshly judge CP's motives. I just don't understand what he hopes to gain from adding a large mortgage to his wallet.
I got the impression, from his FB page, that he wasn't a rich man. Ain't starving, but not as wealthy as Davy was.

If a museum is the endgame in all of this, wouldn't it be cheaper to purchase the church rather than the house? Even so, a ton of work has to be done in that building, a lot!
To piggyback on what Sandee123 mentioned, I think the Jones Girls are ready for a new chapter and for some closure. If they wanted to start a museum in their dad's honor, they would have at least started some kind of dialogue about it by now or made their plans known.

Yes an awful amount of work, in seeing some more posting he wants to have it as a David T Jones/Beavertown Museum, not using the Davy Jones or Monkees due to licensing fees, so I am thinking he maybe is going to try to get the town to do some financial backing, he also mentions he wants to give it to the family (Davy's) so there won't be squabbles, etc., I think the girls have so much on their plates and they have packed up the house full of memories I would think it would be hard for them, I would think they would much rather have the support for the herd they were Davy's first love, for some reason people just can't or won't let go of the house, it all sound goods but so much can happen.

I have to agree with Sandee on this one. Its really easy to think like a fan and not want to let go of anything, but if you are a family member and especially the girls, if they wanted to do something with these properties, they would have. The house was in Talia's name so supposedly they would have done something and not have to worry about JP sticking her nose in it. I figure the estate is finalized now and I truly hope so for the girls' sake so they can move on with their lives. I'd be the first one to want everything to be like it was way back when Davy was alive and out on tour but that is just not going to happen. I am now in a different place and like to enjoy going back in time and reminiscing to the show and the 60's. I like it. I was young and no responsibilities and it was a happy time for me. Davy after 2006 with JP is not a happy time--spirally down at a high rate of speed and I can't imagine being a family member or friend and watching it happen. He looked way different and acted way different. I see where "super-fans" are out sniffing around for sympathy again but really, we were ALL huge fans of Davy's, nobody more than anybody else. Stalking him doesn't make you more of a fan...and in fact it makes you less. IMO.
Just sayin'

Annabel acknowledged a few months back when they cleaned out the house how her dad's priorities changed during the last few years of his life. That house in many ways represents the pre-JP Davy like RJ eluded to.

I have to agree with both of you ladies!! Yes rj I am like you I am in a different place and remember Davy as my first crush but I have moved on from that long ago, you keep the memory in your heart but life has gone on, sadly for many it really hasn't, to me people, those who knew him or not are being selfish in a way, his family and horses came first and having to have the girls on this see saw has to be crazy, I am kind of praying that someone comes along and buys it and makes it a home with lots of children, something I think Davy and the girls would want and yes in 2006 he looked and acted very different but many still see him as the cute little guy with the stars in his eyes, never have seen him any differently, gosh forbid people were going crazy in a fb group because he smoked cigarettes, we all know he smoked something else too, I also think the estate has been settled and the family just wants to go on with their lives. I did see were someone contacted Talia to get her input on this, and I do remember Annabel's comments, I think they just want to forget the last painful years of his life and remember the loving memories they have of him and move on with their lives and just like you mention rj you were young, no responsibilities and it was a happy time, I think alot of the baby boomer Monkee's fan are not young anymore, and aren't happy, you can see this, so they look back to the past for those young and happy times instead of the reality of the real world, its kind of sad.

Meow,
The price was dropped $40,000 down to 349,000.
Still, Chris P. at least is looking at the project a bit more realistic than Cindy B. did. He realizes it will take a ton of money to do what he plans for the house.
However, if Chris P. asked my opinion, I'd tell him it is too costly based on what he wants to do in his future. And would doing this project help him to serve God better than he already is doing. I don't think so. I'm surprised Chris P. is even contemplating the idea.

I got curious and looked up the Beavertown property. The price has been dropped to $300,000 now. That's quite a drop from the starting $389,000. Someone is going to get a good deal eventually even though the longer it sits, the more work is going to need to be done to it.

Wow that price is really dropping, I would imagine there is alot of work to be done to it too, I wonder if they will even get 225,000-250,000 for it, it looks like if you have the money to invest in all the work to be done it would be great, it still to me would make a lovely family home, something I think Davy would want it to be.
