There is a group on FB called MONKEES CRUISE - A 50-YEAR FAN CELEBRATION!! Here is their pinned message: Hey, Hey....Calling all Monkees Fans! Would you consider going on a "Monkees Cruise - A 50 Year Fan Celebration"? How would you like to mingle with Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork and Michael Nesmith on a cruise ship? Good news, I personally asked Michael, Micky and Peter to do a "Monkees Cruise" and all three said YES! Over the next few weeks, we will be working on the cruise. My travel agency, Excellence in Travel, has been doing Theme Music Cruises since 2005. Join our group to keep up with any news we have about a Monkees Cruise! Visit our website at www.ExcellenceInTravel.com Colleen Gaier, President, ExcellenceInTravel Wow, I wonder if this would come to fruition? Might be a better deal than a convention in New Jersey...

God Bless Peter, Micky and Mike if they want to be on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean with the crazy Monkees fans!! I most definitely will pass on this one, I don't think the Monkee Con ladies are going to be too happy with it will be interesting to see if it comes to fruition! Hope you all are doing well and Happy Holidays to you and your families!!!

Well that's interesting! I've never been on a cruise but friends have told nme that your bar bill can cost more than the whole package if you're not careful!

Happy Holidays to you also Sandee123!
We will be keeping our eyes peeled on further details as they unfold. You also bring up a good point about the convention planners in NJ, as they will not be too fond of a cruise stealing their thunder.
If I had the money, I would go to people watch and report back here on all the details, lol!
I saw a preview to the upcoming show about the New Kids On the Block Reunion Cruise- looks insane!

Thanks for the info sandee, and RJ, from what a couple of my cruise-loving friends have said, some cruise lines will try to really squeeze you regarding drinks. Either through a ridiculously-priced separate "drinks" package or the crazy cost of each individual alcoholic beverage if you don't sign up. Good thing I rarely, if ever, drink. The cruise sounds potentially interesting, but from what I've read about other celebrity cruises (the articles I've read previously concerned former Top Chef contestants and NKOTB) quite often the access is pretty restricted to their scheduled appearances and the cost of those type of cruises are about three times the price of a regular cruise. (Where, say, you only get a cheesy flamenco act as entertainment instead... )

Meow,
Unless M, M & P decide to stage a public brawl in the ship's lobby.
Sorry...it was too good to let pass by.

I received an email with the speculation that the Monkees Con planners and the Cruise/Travel Company may collaborate for the 50th anniversary affair. We shall see... Supposedly there were hints dropped around various groups on FB.

I also saw something posted by one of the con ladies about big plans for 2016, I did see something earlier which made it sound like they were miffed about the cruise plans, wonder if they got involved with it then, I imagine the con ladies don't want anyone trying to steel their thunder and do something without them involved with it too!!

Meow,
Back in '86, we didn't mingle with Davy, Micky nor Peter. Not us peon fans. We saw them on the stage and then they left to get on their buses. Plus, Davy had Anita & Jessica age 4. Micky had somebody, and Peter had Jennifer MacLeod. Maybe Maggie mingled with them, but I never met anyone who got that close.
This is me at the '86. I hope you can view it. I tried to copy and paste, but don't know if it will work.
Here goes....

Meow,
It's not going to show my pic, so just ignore it. I'm not computer savvy enough to get it right.

Great to see you post again BK! I was able to click the link just fine to the picture. You were so lucky to have gone to Philly in the 80's.

It worked for me too BK. Those are fun to look at. I didn't even KNOW they had Monkee conventions back then. I did go to their concert in Minneapolis however!

Meow,
Well shut my mouth...I was able to do it after all.
Thanks, friends, for your encouragement. That blouse was my very favorite one in '86.
I was 24. Now I'm 53. Almost 30 years ago.... I am the one in the blue top w/flowers.
